Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker has already announced that it will be launching a new device in India on 14 February at event scheduled in New Delhi at 12 pm. The company was teasing the announcement of its upcoming device on its official Twitter and now it has been confirmed that the new device will be launched exclusively via Flipkart, thanks to advertising banners which the e-commerce giant has put ahead of its launch.

The advertising banners posted by Flipkart is only hinted that ‘GiveMe5’, but the source code from the webpage has revealed that the new device is actually the Redmi Note 5, and not Redmi 5 which was rumoured earlier.
To quickly recall, Xiaomi announced the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at an launch event held in Beijing, China on December 7 and it is speculated that the Chinese company will launch the Redmi 5 Plus as the Redmi Note 5 in India. however, it will be interesting to see if the company announces a new variant of the ‘Redmi 5’ series with better processor or not.
The Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.9-inch HD+ (2160 x 1080 p) bezel-less ‘FullVision’ display with 18:9 aspect ratio along with a pixel density of 403 ppi. it is powered by a 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 625 processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU. the device is available in 3GB RAM + 32GB storage option and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. the device runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat update and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. the device also sports a rear facing fingerprint sensor.
The device sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, 1.25μm pixel size, F/2.2 aperture, and flash. the camera also features mode including HDR, Panorama mode, Burst mode, and Face recognition mode. the device also sports a 5-megapixel front facing selfie camera with soft-selfie flash.
On the connectivity front, the option includes 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-FI 802.11a/b/g/n, 3.5mm audio jack and Micro-USB. the device on-boards sensors including accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. the device measures at 158.5 x 75.45 x 8.05 mm, and weights 180 grams.
Coming to the pricing, the Redmi 5 Plus is priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 9.700) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant and CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 12,700) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant.
