Xiaomi MI A2 With 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 Display, AI Dual Camera Launched

Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi has announced Mi A2, the company latest Android One offering along with Mi A2 Lite, the toned-down variant a global launch event held in Spain on July 24th, 2018. The device is successor to Mi A1 and the global variant of Mi 6X which was launched earlier this year in China. the key specifications of Mi A2 includes metal design, AI-powered dual rear camera setup, 20MP front camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, 5.99” FHD+ 18:9 display, and a 3,010 mAh battery.

Mi A2 price

The Mi A2 is priced € 249 (approx $290 | ₹20,000) for the 4GB RAM / 32GB storage variant, and € 279 (approx $327 | ₹22,500) for the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant. whereas, the premium variant with 6GB RAM / 128GB storage is priced at € 349 (approx $408 | ₹28,100) — The device will go on sale starting from July 27th in France, August 8th in Italy, and starting from August 10th in Spain. the Global sales will be followed by, including India in the coming days.

Mi A2 specifications

The Mi A2 bears a 5.99-inch (2280×1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9  display with 2.5D curved glass lamination, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 401 PPI pixel density, 500 nits brightness, and 1500:1 contrast ratio. the device is powered by an 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE 14nm Mobile Platform paired with Adreno 512 GPU. it is available in 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 32GB storage, 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB storage, and  6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB storage variants. the device is a part of Android One initiative by Google and henceforth, runs on stock Android 8.1 (Oreo) out-of-the box and is backed by an 3010 mAh Non-removable battery with QuickCharge 3.0 technology which charges the device up to 50-percent in just 30 minutes.

In the camera department, the device sports AI powered Dual rear camera setup stacked vertically which consists a primary 12-megapixel camera with SONY IMX486 sensor, phase-detection auto-focus, dual-tone LED flash, f/1.75 aperture, and 1.25μm pixels paired along 20-megapixel secondary camera with SONY IMX376 sensor, 4-in-1 pixel binning technology, 2.0μm pixels, and f/1.75 large aperture which capture depth of information for AI-powered portrait shots.

Other camera feature includes AI Scene Recognition, AI portrait mode, Light enhancement technology, HDR imaging technology, Panorama mode, Burst mode, Face recognition, AI Beautify 4.0. it is also capable of capturing 4K (3840 x 2160 resolution) video recording at 30fps, 1080p video recording at 30fps, 720p video shooting at 30fps, 480p video shooting at 30fps, and 720p slow motion video at 120fps.

On the front, there’s another 20-megapixel front facing camera with SONY IMX376 sensor, 4-in-1 (2.0μm) pixel binning technology, f/2.2 aperture, and soft LED flash. the front camera also features AI Scene Recognition, AI portrait mode, AI-powered Beautify 4.0, HDR, Selfie timer, and Face recognition technology.

Connectivity option includes Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD), Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C port for audio and charging. onboard sensors includes e-compass, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Infrared sensor, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope, Hall sensor, and a Vibrating motor. it measures at 158.7 × 75.4 × 7.3 mm, and weighs at 168 grams. the device is available in Gold, Lake Blue, and Black color options.
