Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi announced Xiaomi MI 8 Pro aka Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition, alongside Mi 8 Lite aka Mi 8 Youth edition in China on September 19th, 2018. the former is the premium variant of the company’s flagship Xiaomi Mi 8 featuring similar specifications but with an in-display fingerprint sensor. while, the later is a budget, toned down variant of Mi 8. The Xiaomi MI 8 Pro aka Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition key specifications includes World’s first pressure sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor which unlocks the device, once you place your finger on the screen. it also supports Infrared face recognition technology.

The Xiaomi MI 8 Pro aka Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition is price at CNY 3199  (approx. USD 468 / Rs. 33,600) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant, and CNY 3599  (approx. USD 525 / Rs. 37,800) for 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant. the device will go on sale in China starting from September 21st, 2018 in Sunset Gold, Black color options and a Transparent Titanium variant.

The Xiaomi MI 8 Pro aka Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition bears a 6.21-inch (2248 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ (Samsung) AMOLED display with 18:7:9 aspect ratio, 600 nits brightness, and  DCI-P3 color gamut. it is powered by an 2.8GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 845 10nm Mobile Platform paired with Adreno 630 GPU. the device is available with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM /128GB storage variant, and 8GB LPDDR4x of RAM / 128GB storage variant. The device runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and is fueled by 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 charging support.

In the camera department, the device sports a 12-megapixel 26mm wide-angle lens with 1/2.6″ Sony IMX363 sensor, 4-axis optical image stabilization, f/1.8 aperture,  1.4µm pixel size, and dual-tone LED flash, paired with a secondary 12-megapixel Samsung S5K3M3 sensor with f/2.4 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, Dual PD dual-core focus, Infrared facial recognition, and AI beauty. the AI-powered camera Intelligently recognizes 206 shooting scenes. it also comes with AI portrait mode, and AI studio lighting effect such as window light, rainbow light, and five others.

In terms of video recording, The device is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30 fps, 1080p videos at 30 fps, 720p videos at 30 fps, and Slow-motion 720p videos at 240fps, and 1080p videos at 240fps.

The Xiaomi MI 8 Pro sports a 20-megapixel Selfie camera with new 3D beauty technology, AI portrait mode, 10 AI scene mode, self-countdown timer, face recognition function, front HDR, and real-time preview.
