Detail Report – Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact & Xperia XA1 Plus Goes Official at IFA 2017

Sony Mobile, the Japanese smartphone manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo, Japan has announced three new smartphones at the Europe’s largest technology trade show IFA 2017 held in Berlin.

The company announced their new flagship line – The Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact along with the Mid-ranger Xperia XA1 Plus. coming to the flagship line, the highlight feature of both the devices are they will be the first device (Non Pixel) to ship with the latest version of Android operating system update ‘Android 8.0 Oreo’ or ‘Android Oreo’.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Specification

The Xperia XZ1 is water and dust resistant and comes with an IP68 certification. the device sports a metal unibody and bears 5.2-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920 p) HDR Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top of it and Sony’s Triluminous display and X-Reality technology developed for mobiles. it also features Dynamic Contrast Enhancer with coverage of sRGB 138%. the device is powered by Snapdragon 835 mobile platform paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. the device is packed with 64GB of on-board storage and supports  storage expansion up-to 256GB via MicroSD card. the device will shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo update and is backed by 2,700 mAh battery and also supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology. it also support various features which helps to keep the battery last for a longer period.

  • Smart Stamina – the feature works like battery saver and tracks your usage, gives you an estimated time frame on how long the battery will last. when running out of charge, the device prompts to activate Stamina mode which cuts energy consumption helping the battery last longer.
  • Qnovo Adaptive Charging – the feature checks your battery’s health continuously when it’s plugged in and adjusts current levels to ensure the battery isn’t overworked, thus making it last for longer.
  • Battery care – Leaving a fully-charged battery plugged in can damage it. the feature comes handy here and charges your phone to 90%, then waits to charge to 100% just before your wake-up time.

The device sports 19-Megapixel Rear Motion Eye camera with 3D imaging sensor, 1/ 2.3” Exmor RS, 1.22μm pixel pitch, 25 mm wide Lens with F/2.0 aperture, Predictive Capture (motion / smile), Autofocus burst, 8x Digital Zoom, HDR Photo, ISO 12800 for low-light photos, ISO 4000 for Low-light videos, Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, Anti-distortion shutter, Triple image sensing technology, SteadyShot. the rear camera is also capable of capturing 4K recording, Super slow motion video at 960 FPS and comes with support for 5-axis stabilization.

On the connectivity front, the options includes Single/Dual SIM (Nano SIM), 4G LTE, A-GNSS (GPS + GLONASS), WiFi, Miracast, Google Cast, NFC, DLNA, USB 3.1 (Gen 1) / USB Type-C and Bluetooth 5.0. it also sport Fingerprint sensor embedded on the power button placed at the right side of device. the device comes with enhanced audio support and is builtin with features like High-Resolution Audio, Digital Noise Cancelling, Clear Audio, S-Force Front Surround, Stereo Recording, Automatic Headphone Optimization, Virtual Phones Technology and Qualcomm‘s aptX HD audio.

The device measures at 156 x 77 x 7.9 mm and weights at 155 grams. it will be available in Moonlit Blue, Black, Warm Silver and Venus Pink colour options.

The Xperia XZ1 Compact is also water and dust resistant and comes with an IP68 certification. the device sports a 4.6-inch HD (1280 x 720 p) Display with Sony’s Triluminous display and X-Reality technology developed for mobiles, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. it also features Dynamic Contrast Enhancer with coverage of sRGB 138% just like its elder sibling. the device is also powered by Snapdragon 835 mobile platform coupled with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU and comes with 32GB of on-board storage expandable up-to 256GB via MicroSD card supports. the device as mentioned earlier will shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo update and is backed by 2,700 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology with Qnovo Adaptive Charging, Battery Saver and Smart Stamina.

The mid-ranger Xperia XA1 bears a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p Display with Image Enhance Technology and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. it is powered by 64-Bit Octa-core (Quad Core 2.3GHz + Quad Core 1.6GHz) MediaTek helio P20 processor paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM. the device is packed with 32GB/64GB on-board storage with support for storage expansion up-to 256GB via MicroSD card. the device is powered by Android 7.1 Nougat update and is backed by a 3430 mAh battery with Quick Charging (MediaTek Pump Express Plus 2.0 & battery saver features like Qnovo Adaptive Charging, Battery Saver, and Smart Stamina.

On the connectivity front, the option includes Single SIM (Nano SIM), 4G LTE, 4G LTE, A-GNSS (GPS + GLONASS), WiFi, Miracast, Google Cast, NFC,  USB Type-C and Bluetooth 4.2. it also feature Fingerprint sensor embedded on power button.

The device measures at 155 x 75 x 8.7 mm and weights at 190 grams. it will be available in Blue, Black and Blue colour options.

Coming to the pricing, the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are priced at $699.99 and $599.99 respectively. while, the pricing for the Sony Xperia A1 Plus isn’t revealed yet.
