Sharp Aquos S2, The Bezel-Less device with Dual Camera, 3D Glass Protection & 3020 mAh Battery Launched

Sharp Corporation, the Japanese multinational corporation that designs and manufactures electronic products and smartphone announced the new bezel-less Aquos S2 at a launch event held in Beijing. the device is available in two variants differ by the Processor, RAM and Internal memory.

Aquos S2 Design

The Aquos S2 sports diagonals top corners, instead of the regular rounded or squared corners. it also has the cut-out design on the top just like the one found in Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone to place the front camera and sensors. thus, splitting the notification panel in the centre. the device is protected with 3D glass that protects the cameras, back side of the device and edges. the dual camera setup at the back is placed vertically with the Company’s logo sitting at backside at bottom of the device. the Volume rocker and Power button are placed on the right side edge of the device.

Aquos S2 specifications

The Aquos S2 features a 5.5-inch LCD (1080 x 2040 pixels) Display, including the notification panel at the top and is packed with a 17:9 aspect ratio. The device sports a Tri-bezel design with bezel trim down from all the three sides ( top, left and right side) which helps the device giving a 4.9-inch look with a screen-to-body ratio of 87.5 percent. As said earlier, the device is available in two variants differ by the Processor, RAM and Internal memory, both expandable up-to 128GB via MicroSD Card support.

  • The Pro variant is packed with Snapdragon 660 and is packed with with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage storage.
  • The Economical variant is packed with Snapdragon 630 and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Aquos S2 Camera

The highlight feature of Aquos S2 is the dual rear camera setup placed vertically and consist a combination of 12-megapixel primary sensor and 8-megapixel secondary sensor with F/1.75 aperture, PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus) and the ability to captures picture with Bokeh like effects. on the front, there’s an 8-megapixel front facing selfie camera with F/2.0 aperture.

Aquos S2 Battery & Connectivity

The Aquos S2 is backed by a 3020 mAh Battery and comes with fingerprint sensor embedded beneath the home button. the speakers grills are placed at the bottom of device with USB Type-C placed in the middle. it is also expected to packed with a new UI dubbed as Smile UX which is packed with Smart Assistant. it is packed with NFC and Hybrid Dual SIM setup which can be used as two NanoSIM card or One Nano SIM + One MicroSD card. it the company has decided to ditch 3.5 mm audio jack and is packed the device with USB Type-C audio cable adapter. other connectivity option includes 4G LTE GPS, and Bluetooth 5.0 – the device measures at 141.8 x 72.04 x 7.9 mm and weights at 140 grams

Aquos S2 Price & Availability

The Aquos S2 is priced at CNY. 3499 (Approx $522) for the Snapdragon 660 variant and CNY. 2799 (Approx $418) for the Snapdragon 630 variant. the device will go on sale starting from August 14 in China and currently, there are no reports about its availability in the global market. the device will be available in Crystal Black, Glazed White, Blue, and Mint Green colour options.
