Samsung Mobiles, the South Korean based multinational electronics company today has today launched the Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) in India. the devices carry forwards the same design of the company’s flagship devices Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and is equipped with Infinity Display, Dual Selfie cameras and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. the device is priced at Rs. 32,990 and will be available exclusively via Amazon India from January 20. it will be available in Black, Orchid Gray, Gold and Blue colour options.

Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) Specification


The device bears 6.0″ Full-HD+ Super AMOLED (1080 x 2220 p) Infinity Display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio, and pixel density of 410 ppi. it is also packed with AOD (Always On Display) which display Information such as date, battery level, app notifications, and song information.

It also supports customization with different widgets for clock designs and information.


The device is powered by an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7885 processor with two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six core clocked at 1.6GHz. furthermore, it is coupled with 6GB of RAM and will offer smoother experience while multi-tasking and playing hard core games.


The device sports a dual selfie camera setup with Live Focus mode which blurs the background, adds bokeh effects and beauty effects. it is a combination of an 8-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.9 Aperture, 1.12µm Pixel size, 1/4.0” sensor & 85-degree Field-of-view and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with F/1.9 Aperture, 1.0µm Pixel size, 1/3.1” sensor & 76-degree Field-of-view.

On the rear there’s an 16-megapixel camera with Phase Detection Autofocus, F/1.7 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size 1/2.8” sensor & 78-degree Field-of-view. other camera features includes Hyperlapse, HDR, Live Stickers, Filters, Beauty mode, Food mode, Panorama mode, Night mode, Floating camera button and Voice control.

The device supports 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps and 720p HD video recording at 30 fps with 4x Zoom, High CRI LED Flash, Video Digital Image Stabilization, Continuous Autofocus video, Face detection, Tracking Autofocus and Hyperlapse video with stabilization.

Storage, Battery & Operating System

The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) is packed with 64GB of on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 256GB via MicroSD card. the device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update (quite surprising for me, as most of OEMs shipped  device with Android Oreo out-of-the box.) and is backed by 3,500 mAh battery capacity which the company claims offers Video playback up-to 19 hours, Talk time up-to 23 hours.

Security features

The device comes with Fingerprint Scanner (on the rear), Face Recognition technology, Real-time device monitoring and protection and Virus, malware prevention powered by McAfee. there’s also an secure space on the device to keep content such as apps, photos, movies, and files private using fingerprint scanning.

Audio & Recording

The Samsung Galaxy A8+ comes with improved recording quality with digital MEMS mic and Ultra High Quality Audio Playback.

On the connectivity front, the device option includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 (LE up-to 2Mbps), GPS, NFC and USB Type-C port. it on-boards Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and RGB Light Sensor. the device measures at 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm and weights at 191 grams.
