Dots : the feature allows you to see the all the notifications of a particular app in the same format which is found in the upcoming Android O update. however, at the moment it doesn’t supports the ability to long-press on an app icon to glance at the notifications associated with a notification badge which is present in developer preview of Android O update.

Customer Support and Social Media Manager Cliff Wade, On the Google+ community page, stated, “the feature hadn’t been added “yet”, which suggests that it could be on its way in the future. Right now, this is just another way to visualize your notifications outside of the status bar”.
