Nokia 7 Plus Android 9.0 Pie Stable Update Finally Starts Rolling Out

HMD Global announced during the launch event of Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus that a stable OTA Android 9 Pie update would be rolling out to the Nokia 7 Plus next month and sticking true to its word, the company has finally started pushing the update for the smartphone and the announcement was made by none-other-than Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product officer at HMD Global.

The Android 9.0 Pie update for Nokia 7 Plus brings a host of features such as Adaptive Battery, App Actions, Slices, New System navigation among other UI changes and under-the-hood improvements.


Nokia 7 Plus Android 9 Pie Features

  • App actions – Helps you get things done faster by predicting your next move and displaying the right action on your phone
  • Slices – Identifies relevant information of your favourite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them
  • Adaptive battery – Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritise battery power on important apps
  • Adaptive brightness – Automatically adapts phone brightness by learning from your interactions with different settings
  • New System navigation – Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions and suggestions (user enabled)

Today, we are extremely delighted to start the roll out of Android 9 Pie on Nokia 7 plus – making us among the first to offer the latest innovations from Google, including Android One exclusive features such as App Notifications, to the value flagship tier.”

The Nokia 7 Plus is also among the first recipient of handsets among non-Pixel devices to grab Google’s Digital Wellbeing with features such as Dashboard, App Timers, Wind down, and Do Not Disturb mode.

  • The Dashboard gives you a complete picture of how you use your phone. Get a daily view of the time spent on your phone, how frequently you use different apps, and how many notifications you get.
  • The App Timers let you set limits for how much you use your apps. When you’ve reached that limit, the app icon is grayed out for the rest of the day.
  • Wind Down gets your phone ready for bed by letting you schedule changes to the display. Activating Night Light reduces blue light and Grayscale gets rid of all color, reminding you to switch off for the night.
  • Do Not Disturb, Quiet your phone with a simple gesture. easily turn on Do Not Disturb by flipping your phone face down.

Do take a note that the update is rolled out in phases and will eventually roll out with open markets and operators for the first 10-percent users with the global roll out commencing in the coming days.
