Nokia 2 Launched With 5-inch LTPS Display, Snapdragon 212 and Massive 4,100 mAh Battery

HMD Global, the Finnish company who owns the license to use Nokia’s brand name on phones and tablets officially announced the company’s first budget offering Nokia 2 in launch event held in India.

The Nokia 2 is targeted at 17 percent volume of the global market and 30 percent volume of the Indian market which carters the price segment Between $100 to $150, after a survey conducted by the company via Qualcomm and Counterpoint that finds battery life is the single most desired (97 percent of respondents) quality of a smartphone, followed by display size and quality, 4G LTE connectivity, and a good camera. The segment usually sees first-time smartphone users, looking to upgrade from their feature phones, with Qualcomm President Larry Paulson adding that 600 million users are expected to upgrade this year.

The highlight feature of the Nokia 2 is its massive battery backup of 4,100 mAh which the company claims will last for 2 days. the device sports a premium design and is made with with poly-carbonate body and 6000 Series Aluminium frame.

Coming to the pricing and availability, the device is priced at EURO 99 (Approx 7,500) in the international market globally. however, company hasn’t disclosed the pricing for the Indian market. the device will be available mid-November in the country and the company also revealed that they are planning to make Nokia smartphone available in India across 1,00,000 stores by the end of this year. the device is priced at RUB 7,990 in Russia.

Nokia 2 Specification

The Nokia sports a best-in-class 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 p) LTPS display with 1:1300 contrast ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. the device is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset paired with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

On the optics front, the Nokia 2 sports a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and AutoFocus along with a 5-megapixel front facing selfie shooter.

The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update out-of-the box and is expected to get Android 8.0 Ore update soon, infact very soon. it comes with 8GB of internal storage which is also expandable up-to 128GB via MicroSD card and is back by a humongous 4,100 mAh Battery.

On the connectivity front, the device option includes Hybrid Dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack. it also on-board accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor. the device measures 143.5 x 71.3 x 9.3 mm, and comes with a rating of IP52 with Protection from limited dust ingress and Protection from water spray less than 15 degrees from vertical.
