Moto X4 Starts Receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update

As promised earlier Lenovo owned Motorola has started rolling out  the stable Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Moto X4 users in India. the latest update marks the operating system version as OPW27.0 and brings support for Android 8.0 Oreo along with Android security updates up-to 1 December, 2017 and Stability improvements. the update is size just over 1GB of size and brings feature including Picture-in-Picture mode, Notification Dots, Instant Apps and Redesigned emoji’s with our 60 newly added.

To quickly recall, the Moto X4 was launched in India on November 13 in two variants with 3GB RAM & 32GB storage and 4GB RAM & 64GB storage. the highlight feature of the device is the dual rear cameras setup, and support for voice based search apps including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The device comes with an IP68 rating and is water and dust resistant.

Moto X4 Specification

The Moto X4 sports a metal unibody design and bears  5.2-inch full-HD (1080 x 1920 p) LTPS IPS display with pixel density of 424ppi  and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. it is powered by a 2.2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with  Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB on-board storage. both, the variant supports storage expansion up-to 2TB via MicroSD card. the device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update out-of-box (Android Oreo update expected by Early 2018) and is backed by a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery accompanied with 15W TurboPower which gives 6 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charge.

On the optics front, as said earlier the device sports a dual rear camera setup placed at the back with a protecting round shape ring. the camera consists a combination of 12-megapixel primary sensor with Dual Autofocus Pixel sensor, F/2.0 aperture, and 1.4-um micron pixel and an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor with 120-Degree field-of-view , F/2.2 aperture and 1.12-um micron pixel. the dual camera comes with support for Color Correlated Temperature (CCT) dual LED flash, and Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF). the camera supports photography modes such as Ultra-wide angle shot, Professional mode, Depth detection & depth effects, Selective Focus, Selective Black & White (beta), Background Replacement (beta), Spot Color, Landmark/Object Recognition, Scan barcode/QR codes/Business cards, Panorama, Slo-motion video and Best shot modes.

On the front, there is 16-megapixel selfie shooter with F/2.0 aperture, and an 1um micron pixel, selfie flash, adaptive low light mode, Selfie panorama, Face filters, Beautification mode and Professional mode.

Both, the cameras are capable of capturing video recording in 2160p/4K (30fps), 1080p (60fps), 720p (30fps), 480p (30fps) format.

On the connectivity front, the option includes Dual (Nano) SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz + 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C, GPS/A-GPS, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. the device also on-boards Fingerprint sensor (embedded on Home Button), Gravity sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient Light sensor, Magnetometer, Gyroscope and Sensor Hub. it  measures at 148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99 mm (9.45 mm at camera bump) at and weights at 163 grams. the device comes with IP68 rating and is water and dust resistant and is available in Super Black and Sterling Blue colour options.

The Moto X4 is priced at Rs. 20,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant, and Rs. 22,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant.
