  • Its Confirmed! Android P is coming to OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus recently released OxygenOS 5.0.4 update for OnePlus 3 & 3T users which added July security patch, Improved image quality for the front camera, and regular fixes with under-the-hood improvements. (you can read more about it here.) — In our last report we mentioned that, David Y, Community Manager, OnePlus Forums, in a comment thread stated, “this won’t be the last update for OnePlus 3 and 3T users. We fully understand you guys are eagerly waiting for some big changes.”

As per OnePlus‘s Software Maintenance Schedule announced last month, OnePlus 3 and 3T users software support was in its last leg, and it is eligible to receive Android version updates till November 2018 and an additional one year of extended Android security patches till November 2019.

Since it was (Android P) launched, we’ve been listening to questions asking about our next major update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. After internal discussions and evaluation, we have decided to focus our development resources on the Android P project instead of upgrading the device to Android 8.1, so that we can offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users.

The Shenzhen based smartphone manufacturer has surprised all of us and has confirmed on July 30th, 2018 that both the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get Android P update later this year, after the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5 & OnePlus 5T.

OnePlus will skip the Android 8.1 Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and 3T and will directly upgrade them to Android P. the company has taken this step after internal discussions and evaluation to offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users.
