Huawei, the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the World on Thursday announced its latest offering the Huawei Nova 2s at an launch event held in China. the USP of the device is that it sports four cameras (yes you heard it right) – it is packed with Dual Rear Cameras and Dual Front Cameras and sports the latest trending bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
The Huawei Nova 2s features a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. the is powered by the company’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 960 (4x cores Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.4GHz + 4x cores Cortex-A53 clocked 1.8GHz) octa-core paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM. the device is available in three storage variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM+64GB storage and a special edition “Yixing Zhang” variant which comes with 6GB RAM + 128GB of on-board storage. all the three variants support storage expansion up to 256GB via MicroSD card. the device runs Emotion UI 8.0-based on Android 8.0 Oreo update and is backed by a 3,340 mAh Li-Polymer lithium polymer non-removable battery which supports 9V/2A fast charging. the device is also packed with facial recognition technology which can identify
fake alternatives such as photos, videos, more effectively prevent sleep closed eyes to unlock.
As mentioned earlier the USP of the device is its dual cameras. the device sports dual rear cameras which is combination of 16-megapixel RGB sensor with F/1.8 aperture, and another 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and F/1.8 aperture. the camera is capable of capturing better low-light photography and depth of field DSLR like bokeh effects. the rear camera is capable of capturing 4K video recording and unfortunately does not support optical image stabilization.
The device also sports dual selfie cameras which is combination of a 20-megapixel wide-angle lens and another 2-megapixel camera which is capable of capturing portrait selfies. the front camera supports beauty mode, panoramic mode, 3D dynamic panorama, HDR, watermark, screen out snapshot, continuous shooting optimization, smile capture, voice control photography, time photography, touch photography, time-lapse and slow motion videos.
On the connectivity front, the option includes Dual nano SIM card slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi-FI 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 (with aptX and aptX HD), USB (2.0) Type-C with OTG and a 3.5mm audio jack. it also on-boards Fingerprint sensor, Gravity sensor, Ambient Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Gyroscope and compass. it measures at 156.9 x 75.1 x 7.5 mm and weights at 169 grams. the device is available in Ocean Blue, Sakura Gold, Silver Gray, Obsidian Black and Acacia Red colour options.
The Huawei Nova 2s is priced at CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 26,300) and CNY 2,999 (Rs. 29,300) respectively for the 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variant. whereas, the special edition ‘Yixing Zhang’ variant is priced at CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs. 33,100).
