Despite of spending Billions of Dollars on Nokia’s Handset division, Microsoft lost on Nokia’s deal and has decided to abandon its mobile factories in Vietnam. This decision by the Redmod Giant would cost a lot for workers working in the plant, as this closure will affect almost 18,000+ jobs.

Foxconn Electronics has announced that one of its subsidiaries, Chief Expertise, has purchased a 100-percent stake of Microsoft Mobile (Vietnam), a handset unit of Microsoft Mobile in Vietnam, for VND492 million (US$22 million) — the company will utilize the plants to manufacture smartphone and feature phones in Vietnam. the decision by Foxconn has saved the future of 18,000+ workers who were previously working under Microsoft.

The Redmond Giant has also reached an agreement in May to sell its feature phone business unit to FIH Mobile and HMD for US$350 million. The deal is said to complete in the second half of 2016. the news is disheartening for all the Windows Mobile FANS as this would mark the end of Microsoft Lumia or Nokia Lumia phones.
