Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker after announcing that Mi.com became the 3rd largest e-commerce platform in terms of online smartphone shipments in India has now revealed that the company has also sold a record breaking over 1 million units of ‘Mi 8 series’ smartphones in just 18 days after its initial launch.
Announcing the One Million Landmark Donovan Sung, company’s global spokesperson on his Twitter account stated, “Sharing some amazing news. The Mi 8 series first went on sale on June 5. Just 18 days later, we’ve already sold over 1M units!”

To quickly recall, The Mi 8 series consists of standar variant Mi 8, the premium variant Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and the tone-down variant dubbed as Mi 8 SE. all the device were announced last month along with Mi Band 3 at the company’s annual product launch event held in China. the Mi 8 is powered by an Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chipset, a Dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup, infrared face unlock, and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. whereas, the premium variant device dubbed as ‘Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition‘ which includes top end features such as 3D Face Recognition Technology, in-Display pressure sensitive Fingerprint sensor and a Transparent back. you can read the detailed report here.
The Mi 8 SE featured a 5.88-inch (2244 × 1080p) FHD+ AMOLED 18:9 display along with an screen-to-body ratio of 86.12-percent, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Mobile platform, and juiced by 3,120 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology went on sale from June 8 in Black, Blue, Red and Gold color options at starting price of CNY 1,799.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE bears a 5.88-inch (2244 × 1080p) Full HD+ AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass display, 18.7.9 aspect ratio, DCI-P3 color gamut and screen-to-body ratio of 86.12-percent. the device is powered by an 2.2GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform paired with 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and Adreno 616 GPU. the device comes with 64GB of on-board storage and does not supports storage expansion. it runs on MIUI 9 (upgradable to MIUI 10 when available) based on Android 8.1 Oreo update and is backed by an 3,120 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology which claims to offer 269 hours of standby, 108 hours of local music playback, 13 hours of video playback, and 7 hours of continuous gaming. the device does not supports Face Unlock technology and comes with rear facing fingerprint sensor.
On the optics front, The device sports a dual rear camera setup assemble vertically which is a combination of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size, LED flash and another 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size which capture depth information for portrait shots with AI. it also include different modes such as Bokeh mode, Portrait mode, monochrome temp flash, HDR adjustment, panorama mode, burst mode, facial recognition, dimming technology, EIS, and Artificial Intelligence features such as business card recognition, intelligent translation, and intelligent exchange rate conversion.
On the front, there’s an a 20-megapixel selfie camera with AI background bokeh, smart beauty, HDR, 4K Video, slow motion and soft flash.
