Vivo, the Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer is all set to announced the much awaited Vivo X20 Plus UD, World’s first smartphone with an under display fingerprint sensor at a launch event scheduled in Beijing on January 24. the company teased the information on its official Weibo account which states the device will be announced on Thursday and the launch event will begin 7:30 CST.
To quickly recall, the Vivo X20 Plus UD is the same device which was unveiled as World’s first smartphone to sport a Fingerprint sensor embedded right into the display at the recently held CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
As per China regulatory website TENAA, the device sports an 6.43-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display (2160 x 1080 p) with an under display fingerprint sensor, 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass protection. it is powered by an 2.2GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM.
On the optics front, the device is packed with an dual rear camera setup which is very similar to the OnePlus 5 & 5T and sports a combination of 24-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. it also sports an 12-megapixel front facing selfie shooter.
The device is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update and packed with 64GB/128GB internal storage. it will also support MicroSD card storage expansion. the device will be further backed by an 3,800 mAh battery capacity and is rumoured to priced at CNY 4000 (approx Rs. 39,900).
The Chinese company has beaten other Tech Giants like Apple and Samsung to achieve this massive feat as both of them were reportedly working on bringing under display Fingerprint display technology to their latest flagship offering the iPhone X & Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.
Vivo has teamed up Synaptics, a California-based developer of touch-pads for computer laptops, touch-screens, and smartphone devices which demoed the device at CES 2018. the company earlier claimed that they are planning to bring as many as 70 million units of its under display fingerprint sensors this year to the market.
