After the enormous success of Redmi Note 4 which achieved the feat of becoming the fastest device to sell over 1 Million devices in India in just 45 days. Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer at a launch event held in New Delhi, India has today finally launched Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, the successor of the company’s most popular device Redmi Note 4.
The Redmi Note 5 sports a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full Screen (2160 x 1080 Pixels) FHD+ Display along with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla glass, a pixel density of 403 PPI, 84% NTSC color gamut, Color temperature adjustment and Reading mode. the device is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 mobile platform clocked at 1.8GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. the device is available in 3GB RAM / 32GB storage variant and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant. it runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.
On the optics front, the device sports 12-Megapixel rear camera with 1.25μm large pixel sensor, F/2.2 aperture, 5P lens and Dual LED flash. it features Phase Detection Autofocus, Low light enhancement, HDR, Panorama, Burst mode and Face recognition technology. on the front, there’s an 5-megapixel front facing selfie shooter with selfie light, beautify 4.0, selfie countdown and face recognition technology.
The Redmi Note 5 is backed by an 4,000 mAh non-removable battery which comes with MIUI 9 battery life optimization and offers 17 days of standby time, 165 hours of music playback, 15 hours video playback and 9 hours of gaming. it includes connectivity option such as WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4G/5G, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, Infrared sensor, and Audio jack. it on-boards Electronic compass, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Hall effect sensor.
The Redmi Note 5 is packed with hybrid SIM tray with support for nanoSIM + MicroSIM or Micro SIM + MicroSD. When two SIM cards are used simultaneously, it measures at 158.5 x 75.45 x 8.05 mm and weights at 180 grams. the device packaging content includes handset, Ultra-slim case, USB cable, Power adapter, Warrant card/User manual and SIM insertion tool.
Pricing and Availability
Coming to the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 is priced at Rs.9,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. both, the variants will go on sale in India starting from 12:00 Noon on February 22 via Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home offline stores in Black, Gold Lake Blue and Rose Gold colour options.
