Nokia, the mobile brand loved by millions of peoples around the World made a grand comeback last year in the smartphone market, all thanks to HMD Global, the Finnish company who acquired the rights to use Nokia brand name on smartphones and tablets. the company announced the first batch of Nokia smartphone’s powered by stock Android last year with Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 which was followed by the company’s flagship offering Nokia 8 and entry-level Nokia 2.
The company recently extended its portfolio of Nokia smartphones with Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and the flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8110 4G (Banana Phone) and its first Android Go smartphone offering with Nokia 1 at the recently held Mobile World Congress, 2018 which was held in Barcelona.
The company as promised earlier delivers regular feature and incremental updates to its portfolio of devices, with the Nokia 8 being the first one in the line to grab Android 8.1 update last month. the company has now started rolling out the stable Android 8.1 Oreo update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in several countries including India.
Android 8.1 brings several new features which include Revamped Power Menu, Neural Networks API, New Settings Menu, Navigation Buttons along with regular optimizations, bug fixes and Google Security Patch 2018-03. both, the devices marks the operating system version as V5.580. While, the update is sized at 866MB for Nokia 5, the Nokia 6 update is sized at 933MB. the company has already confirmed that the Nokia 2 will be directly upgraded to Android 8.1 from Android 7.1 and will be followed by Nokia 3 which will soon grab Android 8.1 Oreo update.
