Lenovo owned Motorola has today announced a new variant of Moto Z3 Play, the company’s latest offering from its portfolio of Moto Z series with support for Moto Mods in Brazil. the newer variant is upgraded version which comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. To quickly recall, the device was originally launched in 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant. the new variant is priced at BRL 2,699 (approx USD 715) and is available in Onyx colour variant.
The USP of the device is that comes with Moto Actions and a One Button Nav bar at the bottom which offers gesture controls just like the one available in iPhone X. it is also the first device from the Moto Z Family to sport a dual rear cameras setup. the device is bundled with a Moto Power Pack mod which increased its battery life up-to 40 hours on a single charge.
The Moto Z3 Play sports a 6000 series polished aluminium frame which comes with a splash-resistant P2i and Water repellent nano-coating. it bears a 6.01-inch (1080 x 2160p) Full HD+ Super AMOLED 18:9 18:9 Max Vision display with 2.5D curved glass, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and screen-to-body ratio 79-percent. the device is powered by an 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform coupled with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 509 GPU. it comes with 32GB/64GB of on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 2TB via MicroSD card. the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo update and is juiced by a 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery with 15W Turbocharging support which the company claims offers half a day of power in just 30 minutes of charge. the device also comes with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa with Moto Mod and Moto Voice (beta).
The device comes with a Fingerprint sensor on the side of the device, a first such offering from the company. it is packed with Front port loud speakers with 4 far-field mic system.
On the optics front, the device sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and 5-megapixel secondary sensor with Dual Autofocus Pixel (pDAF) technology and dual LED flash. it provides depth-of-field effects for Portrait shots. the rear camera also support features such as Cinemagraphs, portrait mode, spot color, cutout mode, face filters, panorama, manual mode, YouTube Live mode, landmark & object recognition (powered by Google Lens), Real time text translator (powered by Google Lens), text scanner, barcode & QR code scanner, and business card reader. the rear camera is capable of video recording 4K Ultra HD at 30 fps, and supports Timelapse video, Slow motion video, and Video face filters.
on the front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with F/2.0, 1.12um pixel size, 84-degree wide-angle lens, and screen flash. the front camera also supports Cinemagraph, portrait mode, group selfie mode, YouTube Live mode, face beauty, manual mode, face filters, and active photos. the front camera is capable of video recording 1080p at 30fps, Timelapse video, Slow motion video, and Video face filters.
Connectivity option includes such as Nano-SIM, Dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. On-board sensors includes accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, proximity, magnetometer (compass), and ultrasonic sensor. the device measures at 156.5 x 76.5 x 6.7 mm and weight at 156 grams.
