Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer unveiled their most awaited bezel-less smartphone of the year Mi Mix 2, along with the Mi Note 3 in a launch event held in Beijing, China on 11 September, 2017.

Highlights

  • The Mi Mix 2 frame is built out of 7000-Series aluminium with rounded design with four-sided ceramic back.
  • The Mi Mix 2 bears a 5.99-inch bezel-less display with 18-9 aspect ratio.
  • The Mi Mix 2 *special edition* will sport a completely ceramic body and will be available in Black and White colour variants.

Specification

The Mi Mix 2 as mentioned earlier bears a 5.99-inch Full-HD (1080 x 2160 pixels) Display with 18:9 aspect ration, pixel density of 403 ppi, eye protection mode, colour temperature adjustment and a DCI-P3 colour gamut. it is powered by Snapdragon 835 – Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset till date clocking at 2.45GHz, paired with Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and ***8GB of LPDDR4x RAM*** denotes for special edition – the device is available in three variants differs by storage and doesn’t supports storage expansion.

Both, the variants standard and special edition runs on  are backed by a 3,400mAh battery with 9V / 2A fast charge 3.0 support and USB Type-C double-sided charging interface.

The Mi Mix 2 comes with a ‘hidden sound-guided speaker’ which comes with ‘cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology’ that reproduce sound waves through the aluminium frame and delivers through the display.


Camera

The Mi Mix 2 sports a 12MP Sony IMX382 Rear sensor with 1.25μm pixel sensor, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 5-piece lens, F/2.0 aperture, Two-color warm flash and supports  (PDAF) Phase Detection Auto-Focus, HDR mode, Panorama mode, Burst mode and support Facial recognition technology.

The device also sports a smaller camera module placed on front at Bottom right corner to compensate the Bezel-less design on top with 5MP selfie camera with facial recognition technology, third generation 36 beauty filters, self-timer with count down, mirror function and supports 1080p video call real-time beauty.

The camera is further capable of capturing video recording :

→ 4K video capture, 30 fps
→ 1080p video capture, 30 fps
→ 720p video capture, 30 fps
→ Slow motion video, 120 fps (720 p)

Connectivity

On the connectivity front, the device option includes dual-SIM (Nano-SIM), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual band (2.4G/5G Support), Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, GPS/A-GPS. it also on-boards Ultrasonic distance sensor, Gyro, Accelerometer, Electronic compass, Ambient light sensor, Vibration motor, Barometer, Hall sensor and Fingerprint sensor (placed on back side). the device measures at 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7 mm and weights at 185 grams.

Pricing And Availability

The Mi Mix 2 is available from the company’s website in China whereas, the special edition in complete Ceramic body will be available later this year. coming to the pricing, the device is priced at  CNY 3,299 (approx Rs. 32,300) for 6GB RAM/ 64GB on-board storage variant, CNY 3,599 (approx Rs. 35,300) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB on-board storage variant, and CNY 3,999 (approx Rs. 39,000) for 6GB RAM/ 256GB on-board storage variant. the special edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB on-board storage is priced at CNY 4,699 (approx Rs. 46,000).

Editors Note – specification marked between *** __*** denotes for special edition which will sport a completely ceramic body with 8GB RAM and 128GB on-board storage.
