Honor, Huawei‘s sub-brand on Tuesday launched the company’s latest flagship Honor V10 in a launch event held in China. the device will go on sale in its domestic market starting from December 5 and is already available for pre-booking on Vmall.com, JD.com, Gome.com, Suning.com, and Tmall.com. the company will announced the device Globally in a launch event scheduled in London on December 5.
The highlight feature of the Honor V10 is that it follows the current trend of 5.99-inch Bezel-less ‘FullVision’ Display with an taller 18:9 aspect ratio and a Rear Dual camera setup. the device is powered by the company’s in-house Kirin 970 processor which has a built-in AI computing Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – the new chipset is designed to give visual, auditory, learning, cognitive, computing, and decision-making ability. the Kirin 970 AI computing Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performs more than 25 times than the CPU’s and is 50 times more efficient. it also has the ability to identify up-to 33 images per second. it also features i7 sensor processor, iNSE and TEE security engines and Hi-Fi audio support.
At the launch event, the Huawei also revealed its own version on the recently launched Apple’s Face ID which it is planning to incorporate in the company’s upcoming smartphone’s. The system uses an RGB camera, IR camera, two RGB LED lights, proximity sensor, and a VSCEL projector to capture 300,000 points which is 10 times more than Apple Face ID’s (30,000 points) in a 3D map of the user’s face. the company also revealed a clone of Apple’s Animoji feature.
The Honor V10 sports a metal body and as said earlier bears a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ (2160 x 1080 p) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 403 ppi. it is powered by an HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset with 4-cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and 4-cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. the device is available in three variants differ by RAM and storage configuration – 4GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 64GB storage and 6GB RAM / 128GB storage. all the variants supports storage expansion up-to 256GB via MicroSD card. the device runs on Emotion UI 8.0 (EMUI) based on Android 8.0 Oreo update is backed by a 3,750 mAh battery with fast-charging support and is claimed to charge the device from 0-50 percent in less than 30 minutes.
The device sports a Rear dual camera setup which is combination of an 16-megapixel RGB sensor and another 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with F/1.8 aperture, Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and Dual-LED flash. the device also sports an 13-megapixel front facing selfie shooter with an F/2.0 aperture and includes Face unlocking security feature.
On the connectivity front, the option includes Dual-SIMs, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, infrared, GPS/A-GPS, USB (2.0) Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack. it also on-boards a Fingerprint sensor embedded on the Home button along with accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. the device measures at 157 x 74.98 x 6.97 mm and weights at 172 grams.
Coming to the pricing, The Honor V10 is priced at at CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 26,400) for 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 29,300) for 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, and CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 34,200) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant.
