Asus, the Taiwanese multinational electronics company specialized in manufacturing computer & smartphone hardware launched the ASUS ZenFone Ares in Taiwan. the USP of the device is that it features augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences.

The Asus ZenFone Ares bears a 5.7-inch 2K WQHD (1440 x 2560p) Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. the display comes with Tru2life technology to enable VR experiences and comes with an oil-repellent coating. it is surprisingly powered by an outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Mobile Platform paired with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. the device is packed with 128GB of UFS 2.0 on-board storage and supports storage expansion up-to 2TB via MicroSD card. the device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat update with ZenUI overlaid on Top of it. it is backed by an 3,300 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. it also features a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button.
In the camera department, the device sports a 23-megapixel rear camera sensor with Asus’ high-res PixelMaster 3.0 technology on top and an F/2.0 aperture. it also features motion tracking and depth sensing which enables Augmented Reality experiences. on the front, the device sports an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with an F/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity option includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. the device also includes SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio 384 kHz audio decoder and supports DTS Headphone with 7.1 channel support.

The Asus ZenFone Ares is priced at TWD 9,999 (approx Rs 22,700) in Taiwan. it is already available for pre-booking via Chinese retailer PCHome e-store and will be available via selected retailers in the Country.
